Installing lots can be a tad tricky, but once you understand the folder system, it’s really not that hard. The game will not read any custom roof files in subfolders, so make sure they go directly in the Roofs folder Lots NOTE: Roof files cannot be placed in subfolders. BMP file, it goes here:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Roofs RoofsĬustom roofs will have the file type. No one wants to go hunting through a labyrinth to find what they need. Even though there’s no limit to the number of subfolders you can have if you own every expansion, I still recommend not going more than one or two subfolders deep. NOTE: You can organize your custom floors using subfolders. FLR file, it goes here:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims\GameData\Floors FloorsĬustom floors will have the file type. NOTE: You can organize your custom walls using subfolders.

The bad news? The right folder is different depending on what kind of CC and mods you’re downloading. The good news? Installing mods and CC is as simple as dropping the files into the right folder. You can find the file path to the game files there. If you have installed The Sims to a custom location on your computer and don’t remember where that was, simply right-click the desktop shortcut to The Sims and go to Properties > Find Target. When you poke around in the Program Files, you’re poking around in the game’s installation files, so if you don’t know what you’re doing, you can mess things up pretty bad.īut don’t worry! As long as you’re following this tutorial to the letter, you shouldn’t need to feel scared of modding your game.įor most people, the location of The Sims 1 Downloads folder should be:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims\Downloads Locating The Sims 1 Downloads FolderĪll mods and CC for The Sims 1 go into the Program Files, not your Documents like in later Sims games. Depending on the type of content you’re downloading, you have to put the files in a different place. The hard part is knowing which files go where.

Removed the situation tag, added the robe tag.Installing mods and CC for The Sims 1 is actually pretty easy. It's so weird that grabbing the model directly from the Sims1 makes it reversed and inside-out, but there you go! I went in and just flipped the model around and turned the normal inside out after that was done (don't know why that was necessary, but it was) Turns out this model was reversed too! (First noticed it in the Servo model.) That's just embarrassing. I also got rid of the tatters because the box just didn't have 'em.Ģ) Only one LOD, but it's pretty small anyway.ģ) While I did upsize and sharpen them, the textures are still blurry when seen up close. Both have faces, but I moved the box version out so it's always visible (the Sims 1 has to have a very specific animation for it to be shown). The first version is from the game, but the second was modified to resemble the box art more. I want it to look weird on purpose, not unintentionally. So, ironically, I had to make this mesh more complicated in order to get it to work! I also had to move the hands and wrists down a bit because the Sims 1 mesh was ever so slightly off and it looked as if it's wrists were broken.

It also has no neck and it's hood is mapped to the spine! Geez. And, of course, the tatters around his body (the random shapes there) were never meant to move either.

It turns out the Sims 1 Reaper was made to ONLY do his thing because - that skirt there? The original mesh is just a cone. This was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. Do you tire of good graphics in your Sims 4 game? Do you desire a return to shitty graphics that were never meant to be seen in an extreme close up? Then I have the mesh for you! The Sims 1 Grim Reaper converted to the Sim 4!
